Pakistan Breaches LoC Ceasefire Again
The situation along the line of control remains tense after unprovoked firing by the Pakistani military triggered a firm response from Indian troops for the second night in a row. Military sources on Saturday confirmed that Pakistani forces opened fire across multiple sectors of the LOC during during the night of April 25th and 26th, targeting Indian positions with small arms. In a measured but resolute response, Indian troops returned fire, matching the Pakistani aggression with small arms as well.
A military source told news agency PTI that various Pakistan army posts across the LOC in Kashmir resorted to unprovoked small arms fire. Our forces responded appropriately. Fortunately, no casualties were reported during the exchange.
This latest flaira follows Thursday night’s similar incident when Pakistani troops once again fired on Indian positions along the LOC. The repeated violations come amid a wave of national outrage and rising hostilities in the wake of Tuesday’s terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 innocent lives. The Pahalgam Massacre, which took place in the scenic Baisaran Meadow, popularly known as Mini Switzerland, saw five armed terrorists indiscriminately open fire on vacationing civilians.
The Resistance Front, that is a TRF, which is a group affiliated with a Pakistan-based Lashkar-teba, has claimed responsibility for the Heena’s app.
The Indian government has since launched a series of firm retaliatory steps. On Wednesday, New Delhi announced a suspension of the 65-year-old Indus Water Treaty, which is a symbolic, yet significant move that signals a deepening diplomatic rift. Authorities also shut down the Atari land border crossing and expelled all Pakistani military attachees stationed in India. As part of further punitive measures, all Pakistani nationals who entered India through the Atari border have been asked to leave the country by the first of May.
Reacting to these moves, Pakistan responded on Thursday by closing its airspace to all Indian commercial flights and halting trade with New Delhi, even restricting indirect trade routed through third countries.
The ceasefire violations along the LOC now appear to be part of a broader standoff as India ramps up pressure following the bloodshed in Pehlgao. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation’s grief and anger on Thursday, vowing to hunt down the attackers and those who supported them. The situation continues to unfold as both militaries remain on high alert, with emotions running high and diplomatic ties deteriorating rapidly. The region watches closely for what may come next..
